MY WORDS CANNOT BE TAKEN BACK By Joseph M. T Musa Jr (Mtj)

Written by Editor

A girl was shortlisted for an interview to one of the most renowned universities in the city.

Just as she received the mail, she was so excited as everything she did5 with uttermost care and pride.

Very early in the morning, on the proposed date for the interview, she took out a very nice long midi dress that she has never wore and she purposely decided to wear it to the interview.

As she stepped out of her house to the street, everybody looked at her enticingly. One can even count her steps. Then she was trying to stop a taxi coming her way, but as she did, she saw number of people in queue waiting for the same taxi.

Beside her was a matured gentle man. Dressed in old suits with a weighty lens and suitcase on his hand. The taxi then came closer to them, they started running towards the taxi.

As they ran towards the taxi, this matured gentle man mistakenly stepped on the girl that was going for the interview.

Then the girl got mad, and aggressively bombarded the gentle man with insulting words.

As the man kept apologizing that he’s sorry so the girl kept insulting the man till she was tired. The matured gentle man then took out a white handkerchief and bend down and wipe the spot off her feet.

But luckily, the taxi needed two passengers.

So, both the girl and the matured gentle man were lucky enough to board the same taxi. They sat in the taxi, the taxi took off and they both went to the same location, which is the University. They kept quiet, and neither of them spoke no words.

At their arrival, they paid the taxi driver and came down together, as they stepped out of the taxi, the girl’s friends came in rush to hug her in amusement of being shortlisted.

The girl then saw the matured gentle man moving into the University, she spoke loudly in public “so you too came to the interview” then she chuckled, so did her friends.

The man stood for a while looked at her in silence and took his leave, as the time for their interview approaches, they were called upon one at a time in the Dean of School’s office.

As she was called upon, she came into the office of the Dean, just to find out that it was that matured gentle man that he mouth-washed with invectives at the waiting queue.

Then she burst into tears loudly and said “MY WORDS CANNOT BE TAKEN BACK”
