HOPE By Adesunwon Habideen

Written by Editor

In our honesty, we prevailed

In our exodus, we are repaid.

The beautiful land of ours

Oh! We wish it could last.

In their righteousness, they failed

In their propaganda, they wailed

The sincere heart that killed

Killing not only them, but their offspring.

With their insincerity, they prospered

In their misappropriation, they plundered

Killing not only the righteous, but also the masses

Oh, what a great idea! They applauded.

Yet after all irregularity on us

Siphoning our luxury and treasure

Yet killing us with starvation and poverty

Massacring our future with audacity.

All we wished for was prosperity

Love, peace and choice

Nothing yet was displayed to us

Except our propaganda of poverty.

Even if they succumbed to their counterpart,

Fighting only for their family’s happiness.

Would they be able to shield their lives?

Will our hearts be fretted over threat?

Until we achieve our aim,

I shall sit at the corridor of the state

Watching their downfall and fate

Which they’ve entrusted to their aids.
