THE QUESTIONS I ASK MYSELF By Toyyiba Aliyu

Written by Editor

Today I live, tomorrow I’m gone
Death, a debt that cannot be forgone
A price everyone must pay
On an unexpected day
In an unforeseen way.

Today you are gone, tomorrow it’s my turn
This is a fact no one can ever forge
The questions I ask myself
What have I done for my deen?
Of what use is my being?
On what deed shall I be resurrected?
Who are those I shall forever live with?
The good? The bad? Or the ugly?
How has my life profited me?
All these are the thoughts from the labyrinth
Of a troubled mind.
Of what use is my being?
