On whose scale is morality measured?
Great words do not make a man holy and just
However deep the
Knowledge of the scriptures,
It is no more than a strand of hair
In the vastness of space.
Each to its own kind,
Each to its own morals,
Each to its own duty.
The tree to its own nature and likeness,
the rock to its own nature and likeness
The bigot judges the tree by the nature of the rock
The feeble mind judges the rock by the nature of the tree
Do not walk in the counsel of the ungodly
The enlightened judge the tree by its fruits
The wise judge the rock by its stones
Terror awaits comparing the unlike
Let rock be rock
Let tree be tree
And mind your own
Unity in variety
Is the plan of creation.
