I’M HOT By Rasheed Mustapha

Written by Editor

I took the right leg, I hit the stone
Just when I bent to ease the pain
I got hit from the back
I staggered, preferring to ease the one I just got
Just then, the bees bit me, on my head
The pain engulfed the entire body
That I know not where to rub
I’m hot
I’m hot

Without knowing,
I bumped into a shit
Though I tried to cleanse it:
Purifying the shit itself
Hm!
‘Lion will always be at the den’
‘And the house shelters human’
I realise, I realise.
First care, myself need

To the bath, I went
Wash the shit off my body
I thought it would be over
I thought it would be forgotten
I thought everything would be erased
But no, despite the thorough wash
And with no trace of it
The stench leaves not my body
I’m hot
I’m hot

I woke up in an oceanic sweat
Then I heard the sound of the rain on the rooftop
I ran out to the vast open land
Then it occurred to me
The water falling was iced
Every ice land on me
Like thrown stones
I lay face up
And continue to receive the hit
These earth fragments are stuffy
I’m hot
I’m hot.
