AWUSA (WALNUT) By Luqman A. Alawode

Written by Editor

There they live
The life of Awusa
The children of the same mother
Yet they could not communicate

Where is tête-a-tete
Hausa, Ibo and Yoruba
Certainly you are lost
In the battle for supremacy

Where is tolerance
Dada n dindin omo iya meta
Living like awusa
Where unity should be watchword

Political chauvinism abated true patriotism
The breeze of hullabaloo greeted nationalism
Amalgamation of 1914
Desperation of 2019

One hundred years plus five
Still searching for who flies the flag
The flag of unison
Awusa – siblings like enemies
