A PRAYER TO YEMOJA By Ololade_writes (Ololade Edun)

Written by Editor

Listen to my sonorous voice Yemoja

The mighty goddess of Osun

The one who controls the sea

And lords over all form of water

Heed my prayers Oluweri

I need your strongest storm now

To tear the veil of this endless ship

And capsize their boat from beneath

Save me from these cruel albinos

Who art come to enslave me

My soul, body and mind

Lest I’ll suffer for generations

Let these enemies fry and boil

Under the sun of Sahara desserts

Seize their sights with the red soil

Of the pure black African race

I don’t want to be ferried across

To the wicked White man’s land

Where my mouth would be gagged

With my body scarred with iron

And my freedom seized forever.

Yemoja doesn’t abandon her son

Neither does the Ori Olokun of Ife

If you save me from their grasp

I swear to worship thee forever

Whilst I stop not to praise thee
