THE STATUE By Adeyemi Nafisat Adesewa

Written by Editor

Statue of a female
Clad in an African attire
Head beneath a basket
Stood in motion stillness
Smiling still

A nutty woman
Pointed to the statue
Threatening to fight
Warns the statue
To stop laughing
But the statue
In motion stillness
Stood still
Smiling still

Getting angry
At this recalcitrance
The nutty woman
Gave her a bang
In motion stillness
The statue stood still
Smiling still.

Lifting her bleeding hand
The nutty woman cries
This must be a mad girl
She laughs at people
Stays incorrigible
Hurts any disciplinarian
Defiantly stands still
Embarrassingly amused still
