THERE IS A TALE By Ajao Abdulqowiyy Ayotunji

Written by Editor

There is a tale
One about a ferocious jungle prince
Who from the Savannah visited our land.

There is a tale
About a prince disguised on a mission to oppress
With good looks and soothing words he lured folks to his camp.

The tale continues,
As the stranger was crowned and adorned in royal apparel
Having enchanted many with his spell
His story was told and they bestowed on him a robe of gold.

But his reign was not without a stain
In disdain, he shattered the dream of youngsters
He created an inevitable hunger
In his time the unknown became known.

There is a tale
Of a cursed carnivore in flaming eyes
He has destroyed our grass
Instilled in many a raging fear
And in his benevolence
He has triumph over feeble bodies.

The deed been done
Dealt by the nature of his reign
With our weak soul being butchered
We declare;
Here comes the Egyptian tyrant!
As we anxiously await
The coming of a saviour.

But the fear like the question remains
And it says:
What will succeed his seed?
A friend or another foe?
