THIS BIZARRE WORLD OF MINE By Safiyyah Adeyemi

Written by Bada Yusuf Amoo

In this bizarre world of mine
Humans are carnivorous
And animals are herbivorous
Kids are adults
And adults are juveniles
Persecution is to live
And freedom is enslavement
This is the world I live in

Men give birth all the time
And women rule the lands
There are no rules
But there are punishments
Oppression is normal
And reconciliation is futile
It’s this weird world I live in

Knowledge is compulsory
Yet ignorance is the most sovereign
Injustice is frowned upon
But still justice is shunned
Lives are not worth a penny
And money is the dei facta ruler.
I live in this inkinu world.

We do not have the ability to make a sound
Yet all we do is scream and shout
The devil they say has been cast out
But light has been long buried too.

Survival of the fittest is the rule
How easy and fast you can soil your hands with the blood of innocent souls is the game
Living a life of luxury yet drowning in depression and anxiety; scared to look over your shoulder because you’re hunted by the ghosts of your sins.
Clowns and comedians fill the streets
Yet homes are cloaked and surrounded with the clouds of gloom, poverty and anguish
This is the world I live in

Steadfastness is compulsory
Hope is necessary
Prayers are important
To live and survive in this abysmal abyss
This is the world I live in.
