Petals say “who”,
Their heads bent together,
Whispering like wives at their morning duty.
They melt at the touch of flies,
Buds throbbing with passion
But do petals know love?

Petals open up to the sun and its sinewy rays,
And the rain at its sudden haste
Mutant albinos sagging from exhaustion as they crawl back from the light.
But do petals know love?

Petals count their stem as they retire at dawn
Lips closed from the night’s ecstasy.

Petals say ” who”
When they hear us call
When the moon is out
And the night is dark
But do petals know love?
