ACCOUNT TO THE MISSING RIB By …

Written by Bada Yusuf Amoo

Taking a walk through time,
Questing for heaven’s wrap;
That true thing so fair and lovely
That most soothes man’s aches.
And by chance, fate did find,
Soul of distant make and shade,
There in true fellowship laced.
And once solitary souls conjoined,
Like a pair of interlocked fingers,
Absorbing each other’s warmth,
In uncoerced mutuality.

When time did undress her sinister wind,
With eyes hovering; perching for solace,
Our contoured faces did shade found,
From the piercing journey of time,
And on divine gift reclined.
There our lone borne groans dissolved.

And has time grew, closer fondness drew.
Our heavy lips could share our grief,
And in laughter, our gay.
For in this humane thing; a true gift,
Which bears the boon of heaven,
Has offsprings; a prize for earth’s increase.
For in this humane thing; a true gift
By heaven’s own hands,
Our fears now slain and strength regained.

Alas, for in this divine gift is found a door,
Which closes on entrance then is forever shut.
For heaven’s frown lies on one
Who shred its flesh in twain.
In its confines are found rubies and haven.
Though, a little squabble might lit through
To plunge out the root of the knot,
But the bond only gets stronger!

Alas, for in this humane thing; a true gift,
Some could find in the eyes of a stranger,
Others, in a clergy,
Another, in the grey head,
Some, in the younger breed,
Others, in a commoner,
Some, in men of affluence,
While another, in friends!

Alas, for in this humane thing; a true gift,
Are some found foul and others, fair!
Pray to the Almighty to guide,
So you might walk your way off the fiend.
For it is woe if you assume that fairest foe
In your unwary heart the true heaven’s wrap.
But before you ponder on one
With whom your bosom to share,
Be sure on that day; before
Heaven and earth’s witnessing faces,
That it be that fairest and truest heaven’s gift before ‘I do’.
