PEACE AND UNITY By Akinbola (K)Hadijat

Written by Editor

Nigeria we hail thee.

In the noise of hullabaloo you hear,

Amidst fear and random gruesome killings you live.

“Tell Papa I’ll be back with his panadol.”

But she was returned in pieces by savages-

Vampires in thirst of blood.

But do vampires relish each other’s blood?

On the outskirts of Benue lie victims of mutual discord

Euphemists say they were put to rest

I think they were butchered.

Our country flows with milk and honey

But nobody added that milk and honey flow

Only at Aso Rock and GreenLand Legacy.

In a state called Benue, in a state called Plateu

Our country flows with hot tears and cold blood.

You might disagree because they are not your relatives,

We are never concerned until we are affected.

To the corpers killed in the service to their fatherland,

To the children laid before their mothers’ eyes,

As FG approves 280 million for former presidents to buy cars

As corpses multiply like loaves of bread,

We give a piece of our heart.
