AN ODE TO RIDWAN OYAFAJO By Adisa Aminat Olabisi

Written by Editor

To that wonderful ally, second to none

He walked me through the aisle of this path

With warmth arms of kind reception

Like yesterday, the memory so fresh, at the desk I met him

He beamed a smile that left me agog

He said to me, “my name is Ridwan”

And I am blessed to bear the name with this

Wonderful brother beside me,

Today that man is Barrister ABDUL LATEEF RIDWAN

And he said, smiling still, welcome to the family of love, NAMLAS

Even till now his smile never vanished for a second

A neophyte who knew nothing I was then

And all I dream was to be in that fold

Immaculate white and symbolic black

While many took advantage of our innocence

He showed love and cared for our existence

And ostensibly took us through the path of essence

Still talking about my ally

He is such a wonderful, gentle, down to earth being

A man of nobility, sublime and impeccable character

He seems quite but vocal

His being is that of a comforter

That has always lifted my spirit

A vanguard of Islam I refer to him in secret

You may not know but I say this today

I appreciate every bit of our friendship

You taught me what true sacrifice is

Without expecting reward in return

You are seed of inspiration, doing well with others

Merely thinking about you

I feel blessed to have known you

And when I see you

Am full of admiration because

I have never seen you enraged

Every bit of disappointment to you is

A blessing in disguise

What more can I say about my ally

Than this appreciation

For the path you have shown me

That of selfless service to humanity

Just a token of my gratitude

Certainly, it is only Allah that can reward your good work

Dear beloved brother!

I will miss you

But know that your name has been ingrained

In that deepest reserved part of my being

It is high time you left our fold for good

God Almighty bless you as you go in peace and not in pieces
