Rahamon Abiola Toheeb Image

By Rahamon Abiola Toheeb

How come you forget home?

Like an ingrate bird in the forest

How come you throw yourself?

Into the palate of distant land

Not ours but theirs

Those foxes in hide of sheep

If morrow comes and they beckon

Like frightening legion of beasts

With daggers and swords

Dragging your human pride

Into the murky pool of disgrace

How will you tell them?

That you are not a cheat on their land

How will you tell them?

You are not a gangster,

How will you tell them you are not a thief?

But a traveler from a barren shore

How will you feel?

That you have forgot this land

That wombs our pride

As valorous men of honor
