Olaniyi Abdul Waheed Come Gently at Night

By Olaniyi Abdulwaheed Penmind

Come gently at night

As the time the sparkling sun resigned for day’s task

When dusk assigns to open gate for darkness

At the heavy dim of the night

Come Arike

Come let’s unfold the memory

Confined in our hearts

Let’s confess of guilt

Before the cupid court

To allow justice thrive and tall

Between our hearts

Come! Arike

Come let’s wage war against the grass

That may intrude our ball

To circle round the field

Let’s spread pajamas of night on our heads

Clip the heart with rivers of our tongues

And make the truth of the night pass

Let’s our love grow and tall

Taller than the rain

And fat more than Araba

Make me the guard of your hymen

I shall be faithful to your honour.

Make me the crown of your head’

I shall be loyal to your curl

Come, Arike

Come gently at night…
